Going off the marked trail in Lake Sylvia State Park is not allowed. But out in our forestry and city trails it seems to be accepted. And the treasures are worth it. A small unmarked path after the forestry trail will bring you to a beautiful water fall and cave.
The adventure doesn’t stop there! If you head down the stream you will find the ruins of the old generator house that once pushed power to the city of Montesano.
But if following the trail is more your speed don’t fear! The trails around Lake Sylvia are amazing. They wind around the creek and up the ridge. The trails are marked with little informational boards that tell the history of the forest and animals.
I highly recommend taking a trip out to Lake Sylvia and doing your own exploration.
